He made it!

Tuesday 22 July 2014, Nickdew completed his last piece of assessment for his masters degree. After two years, he's done! We made it. We made it through two years of living on our own with our two little dogs on one income. We made it through without too many scrapes and bruises. We've been waiting so patiently (or not so much) for this chapter in our lives to be finished so we can start the next. We can get married, earn more money, not worry about university...
And somehow a little part of me thinks we might miss these years one day, because really even though they've been a little stinky, they've been oh, so happy and fairly uncomplicated.

I'm so proud of this man for what he has accomplished. I may grumble about having to support the family in this job but there is no way that I could have done what he has done, let alone how well he's done it.
I can't even spell physiotherapist most of the time...

We're going to be alright, us nearly Dewberries. Just as long as I go to someone else for my physiotherapy, he goes to someone else for his haircuts and we go to the local thai place to celebrate every family milestone. Somebody say curry puff and a Heineken?

Also this dog.

Serves us right for trying to take family photos at dentastick time. What a ham.

I love you old dewberry mcgee! Thank you for working so hard.

Another tale from an interesting Thursday.

In my world, most of the exciting things happen on a Thursday. I don't understand why but Thursdays and I have a thing.
Last night (another Thursday if you can believe it) was thrilling. Maybe thrilling is an overstatement, so let's go with intriguing.
The intrigue started when I waltzed out of work at a silly 6pm. I had to post mail, important mail at that, so I made my way to the local shops to post the important mail, make use of the ATM and find an after-afternoon/pre-dinner snack. These shops are a apart of a chain and this chain has a little bakery section and in the bakery section (if you're really lucky) you'll sometimes find giant salty, crunchy on the outside, fluffly on the inside pretzels. I have a slight problem where if I see any giant pretzel, I can't not buy it and so BAM, after-afternoon snack/pre dinner snack sorted. Are you intrigued yet? No? you should be, it's an exciting tale.
I ate my delicious salty, crunchy and fluffy pretzel on my way to my hairdressers house. I get my hair done by the sweetest Greek woman in her garage salon. It's so perfect and I tell you, I have never found the exact right colour for me until recently when Maria worked some magic on my enormous quantity of hair. Oh, you want to pause the story for a selfie?
Here you go.

Side note: this is a bad photo but man, I am having the BEST eyebrow week of my life.
So after my appointment in which my hair is refreshed and loved and looking ahhhhhmazing, I make my way home. There I find my man, our dogs, dinner (thank you mum!!!) and pods on pods on pods of Nescafe heaven (thanks again Mum!!). Mum's my dealer, she buys millions of pods at a time, fills her entire pantry, we steal a few packets here and there and then she also gives us packets of pods and those are always the best days - also usually Thursdays.

After I filled my pod jar back up and admired the golden goodness we went off to the infamous tri-sports. It was a netball Thursday so I settled myself in on the sideline to watch in extreme jealousy. I distracted myself by taking photos of my engagement ring and my friend Courtney's engagement ring having a playdate on my finger (see instagram, it's worth it). At half time I notice the team next to me having a good giggle and I look over trying to see if I can get in on the giggling but instead I see this poor girl sitting on the ground giggling out of pain and fear! I thought Oh NO! What has happened to you!? And that's when I spot her discomfort. Her pinky was jutted out at some awful unnatural angle and everyone is crowding and saying *insert girls name* just put it back in! you're a nurse! you can do it! Poor girl could not do it so I jump up and yell for the Nickdewey who just so happened to be poised to shoot a goal. I say to him Nickdewey can you help this poor girl and put her finger in the right spot!? He says sure. We walk over to poor girl and Nickdewey turns into this professional man I don't see very often. Hand on her back, very caring, asking questions, making sure she is taking a big breath in and then he takes her hand and makes it right. Sort of. He had to play with it a little more - I had my fingers over my eyes because that is NOT my jam but I know it looked like a proper little finger when he was done. And then she pops ice back on her hand, he pops up and jumps on to the court and scores more goals like it was nothing. It was one of those moments when i thought ooohhhhh I love you all over again even though I never stopped.

On the way home from the interesting game that we won we had little discussions in the car. we discussed the defender that looked like she could be Natalie Holbrook's sister (so weird, I tweeted her about it and she replied, because that's the kind of girl she is) and we discussed how on earth he learned how to relocate fingers. That's when he tells me he's never learned how to relocate fingers. He's never had any training, they don't cover relocating fingers and things at physio therapy school. I thought two things at once: one that he was born to care for people and has balls for doing what he did so easily and two: OMG that poor, poor girl, I told her my fiance was trained and could help her and he was NOT trained! Lucky it worked out OK.

Then I went and had some typical weird Thursday dreams, woke up thinking there was some worldly injustice because I didn't get to sleep in and here we are. Friday. Friday stories are another thing entirely.

If you read all of that, you get gold stars. OR you have too much time on your hands...
